Rally is developed and owned by Skalar — as an example of how we test our own ideas in the market, using the same approach we use for our customers. The project provided us with valuable learning about both user needs and business models — and showed how small teams can validate ideas quickly and purposefully.

In short

Problem

Car enthusiasts have no common digital arena to collect, share and keep track of their favorite vehicles. Existing solutions are fragmented and unengaging.

Solution

Rally — an app that allows users to collect vehicles, follow owners and get information, photos and stories, with technical support for reg.nr searches and event updates.

Results

Launched at the Oslo Motor Show. Over 200 users tested the solution and we conducted hundreds of conversations with enthusiasts. We gained valuable insight -- and learned that this is a niche product without a clear business model today.

Through our cooperation, we delivered

What did we do in the project?

It all started as an internal idea among car enthusiasts in Skalar. We wanted to find out if there was a real need in the market — and how it could be solved in an engaging and technically innovative way.We put together a multidisciplinary team to develop an MVP in a short time. The goal was not to build a finished product, but to test whether the idea had potential. With new technology and focus on user experience, we built and launched the app for Oslo Motor Show, where we received first-hand feedback directly from the target group. Through the project, we were able to conclude that this is not a viable business idea, but a fun hobby project for those in the target audience.

Feedback

The ‍ Rally app allows you to finally get information about the vehicles you collect, giving you a story to collect and tell further. Like a treasure hunt for motor enthusiasts!
