Regional safety representatives play a key role in promoting a safe and healthy working environment — particularly in small and medium-sized businesses. The Regional Safety Representative Scheme was established by the authorities in collaboration with labour market partners, and is funded through an annual fee paid by companies within the relevant industries.

Problem

The Regional Safety Representative Scheme used a system for reporting visits to workplaces, which was only available for PC. This was both time-consuming and impractical for the RVOs.

Solution

Mobile first: A mobile version with a new visual design and an optimized user experience.

Results

RVOs can carry out full reporting while on business visits, which saves time and streamlines the process of following up the reporting.

Where we started


The RVOs experienced a workflow that was unnecessarily manual and time-consuming. They travelled out and visited businesses, jotted down information in their own notes either by hand or on mobile, and had to set aside office days to write reports.

The goal and mission of Skalar


Skalar supplied a team with expertise in development and design. The mission was to develop a new version of the system with the principles of “Mobile First”. By understanding the needs of RVO, we were able to facilitate a more efficient working day where they could complete the reporting in the field. Objective: Streamline and improve the workflow of the RVOs through the availability of a dedicated platform for mobile devices.

With a mobile-friendly solution, The Regional Safety Representatives can now register and report directly from the workplace. This prevents them from having to wait to register until they are back in the office, and reduces the risk of errors or missing documentation. The improved user experience and new visual design make it easier and faster to conduct full reporting while on visits. It provides a more efficient workflow and frees up time that can be spent on the actual follow-up work with the companies.
